Books

Mama Goes to Stay tells the story of Freek and his family. Freek has to miss his mother for a while because she is not doing so well. That's why she has to stay in a kind of hospital for a while. Freek doesn't like that at all and this book is about that.

It is not just a made up story, it tells the story of our family when we went through this. We hope this book helps because maybe in your home things are a bit like Freek's. It may help to talk about it with each other and learn together to make the best of it. We wish you much reading pleasure!

Front reflections

Overdendenkingen contains a collection of philosophical contributions by Emanuel Rutten specifically related to his thinking about Christian faith. These contributions from recent years deal with the question of the reasonableness of belief in God, suffering in the world, the personal Christian life, and more generally, Christianity as a worldview. In one of these texts, Rutten writes, "This is my way of living. This is my way of being in the world. This is what I am: Christian." His reflections result in a handy and readable collection of essays that will allow you - along with the author - to look at Christianity with philosophical depth.

The Didache is very old and is dated around the first century. When in about 400 AD the list of canonical and apocryphal books is established, the Didache is not among them. The Didache then falls into oblivion and even disappears from history completely. It was not until 1873 that an ancient scripture dating from 1056 was found in Constantinople (Istanbul, Turkey) that the Didache was found again. Ten years later, in 1883, the Didache is republished, but it remains a relatively unknown scripture after this. Because of its age and authenticity, this valuable scripture deserves to be brought back to attention.

Dealing with temptation

Dealing with Temptations is about breaking patterns and being focused on God. How sneaky temptations can be, how much encompassing and dangerous, is discussed using the theme of sex addiction. The premise of this book is that if you want to be connected to God, you should not, should not or cannot change, but simply through this relationship you will change. It is the logical consequence of His closeness and reciprocal relationship. In that change you will see that there are patterns that want to hold you, sins that feel comfortable and where giving resistance is difficult. In doing so, this book aims to be a guide. It is written from thoughts of restoration, unity and desire for a life closer to God.
