A response I recently received by email from Rob de Jong, I don't want to withhold from you. A dissection of You were already there. Because of the dissection, however, it evokes another reaction in me. Read all about it here: A little polemic.
Ha Erwin,
Have read your blog - You were already there - many times. I like the format and the content had my attention immediately. This is definitely because of the name Abram! He is my favorite character from the Bible.
a few thoughts that occurred to me. The Lord promises him a corporeal son and leads him outside asking him to count the stars (walking among the stars Abram once saw). Those were not a bunch of bright spots that we see today, your background photo does that very nicely. Super!
On what path is a thousand years like a day? That is the path of God's promises that are 'Yes' and Ámen' in Jesus! And many have walked that path.
"Softly Sarah's laughter sounds. Do you know that Abram had also laughed before this? Just read!
'Spring promise contained within us'. I have not understood this for a long time. Spring is new life. The words of God are LIFE and thus vivifying, life-giving, as in the birth of Isaac.
"Caught up in us" that applies to those who, like Abram, take this word of God believingly.
"The old goes a new day" culminating in that one new and great day when all things will be made new-again.
'You were there before I entered it' "The Lord is there" (Jehovah-Shammah). One of the names by which God continues to reveal Himself to Israel. The Lord Jesus also walked this path of faith. We need and want only to follow Him.
Dear Erwin, I promise you that you won't get such a comprehensive response after every blog.
Warm regards, Rob
